What is the Monro Kellie doctrine?
The Monro–Kellie doctrine states that the volume of intracranial components (brain, blood, and cerebrospinal fluid [CSF]) remains nearly constant due to the enclosure within the nonexpandable skull, after closure of the fontanelles.
Additional volume will lead to the displacement of another of the contents and results in increased ICP.
