Innocent Heart Murmur

What is Innocent Heart Murmur

Innocent heart murmurs are harmless, and they may come and go. Common in children. Many children who have this kind of murmur grow out of it. This is not a sign of heart disease.

A heart murmur is an unusual sound that is heard during a heartbeat. The sound comes from blood passing through different parts of the heart. An innocent heart murmur may be caused by a tiny hole in your child’s heart.

The hole normally closes as your child grows. Innocent heart murmur may also be caused by a short-term (acute) illness, such as fever.
