How is Pulmonary Hypertension classified?

The current classification scheme divides PH into five distinct clinical groups:

Group 1: Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension

Group 2: Pulmonary Hypertension associated with left heart disease

Group 3: Pulmonary Hypertension associated with chronic hypoxia (e.g., Pulmonary Hypertension associated with ILD)

Group 4: Chronic thromboembolic-associated PH

Group 5: Pulmonary Hypertension with unclear or multifactorial mechanisms (e.g., sarcoidosis)
