How is localized scleroderma different than the limited cutaneous form of Systemic Sclerosis

How is localized scleroderma different than the limited cutaneous form of Systemic Sclerosis?

Localized scleroderma is a distinct clinical entity from SSc (: Systemic Sclerosis). It is a local fibrosing condition that commonly lacks systemic organ involvement and as such should not be considered part of the spectrum of SSc. Confusion among patients and providers often arises because of the similar terminology of limited SSc (often referred to as limited scleroderma) and localized scleroderma. The term morphea may be preferred over the term localized scleroderma to help avoid potential confusion.
