How is breast MRI biopsy performed?
Breast MRI biopsy is generally performed with a specialized breast MRI coil that allows access to the breast for biopsy with a vacuum assisted 9 or 10 gauge core needle. The lesion is localized following a contrast injection, and after tissue sampling, a small MRI-compatible clip is placed to mark the biopsy site in case further intervention is needed. The details of MRI-guided breast biopsy are beyond the scope of this chapter but have been reported elsewhere
