How does the urinalysis help in the diagnosis of rhabdomyolysis?
The urinalysis (dipstick) detects both heme pigments (free hemoglobin, myoglobin) and hemoglobin within red blood cells.
In rhabdomyolysis, the urinalysis will be positive for heme (myoglobin) but urine microscopy will not show red blood cells.
