How does SAAG present compared with PSGN

How does SAAG present compared with PSGN?

In direct contrast to PSGN, SAAG presents almost simultaneously with an active staphylococcal infection.

There are no specific nephritogenic strains of staphylococci, but most cases are associated with Staphylococcus aureus .

Moreover, compared with PSGN, few cases of SAAG develop following an upper respiratory infection; the most common sites of staphylococcal infection are skin, lung, heart, urinary tract, and viscera.

SAAG affects older adults with preexisting morbid conditions such as diabetes or malignancy; it rarely, unlike PSGN, presents in children.

SAAG, like PSGN, presents with the nephritic syndrome, with the nephrotic syndrome being described infrequently.

Gross hematuria can also be seen in both syndromes.
