How common is shoulder pain in athletes and manual laborers?
Shoulder pain affects all ages (older more than young) and is present in 18% to 26% of adults at any point in time. It is the third most common musculoskeletal complaint for which a patient seeks care. It is most common in workers whose jobs involve repetitive, forceful, overhead work, lifting heavy loads, and vibration. The majority of symptoms are related to the rotator cuff.
