The overall prevalence of all stages of Chronic kidney disease in the US general population is about 14% and has remained stable over the past decade.

In contrast, there has been an increase in Stage 3 Chronic kidney disease, with prevalence of 6%.

There were 661,648 prevalent cases of ESKD at the end of 2013, and the unadjusted prevalence was 2034 per million in the US population. 

The number of incident (newly reported) ESKD cases in 2013 was 117,162.

The adjusted incidence rate of ESKD in the United States rose sharply in the 1980s and 1990s, leveled off in the early 2000s, and has declined slightly since its peak in 2006.
