Hand Dermatitis

What is Hand Dermatitis

Hand dermatitis is a skin condition. It causes small, itchy, raised dots or fluid-filled blisters to form on the palms of the hands. This condition may also be called hand eczema.

Follow these instructions at home:

  • Take or apply over-the-counter and prescription medicines only as told by your doctor.
  • If you were prescribed an antibiotic medicine, use it as told by your doctor. Do not stop using the antibiotic even if you start to feel better.
  • Avoid washing your hands more often than you need to.
  • Avoid using harsh chemicals on your hands.
  • Wear gloves that protect your hands when you handle products that can bother (irritate) your skin.
  • Keep all follow-up visits as told by your doctor. This is important.

Contact a doctor if:

  • Your rash is not better after one week of treatment.
  • Your rash is red.
  • Your rash is tender.
  • Your rash has pus coming from it.
  • Your rash spreads.
