Does the presence or absence of insight differentiate Alzheimers Disease from other dementias? 

Lack of insight into their memory disorder (or anosognosia) occurs in some patients with Alzheimers Disease as well as in patients with other dementing disorders.

It does not appear to correlate with disease severity and is not useful in differential diagnosis.
