What is the difference between a screening mammogram and a diagnostic mammogram?
A screening mammogram is performed as part of routine annual surveillance. A diagnostic mammogram is performed when the patient has a history of breast cancer or presents with a breast-related complaint or symptom such as a breast lump, abscess, or nipple discharge.
