Common neurologic manifestation of Behçets disease
What is the most common neurologic manifestation of Behçet’s disease?
CNS disease is found in 10% to 30% of Behçet’s patients. An initially relapsing and remitting focal meningoencephalitis that predominantly affects the brain stem is the most common finding.
Cranial nerve and long tract signs may eventually lead to spastic quadriplegia and pseudobulbar palsy.
Subcortical dementia, pseudotumor cerebri, vasculitis with cerebral infarction, and peripheral neuropathy have also been reported in this disease.
