What are the classic neuropathologic changes in Alzheimers Disease?
- Senile plaques,
- neurofibrillary tangles,
- granulovacuolar degeneration,
- loss of synapses,
- amyloid in blood vessels and plaques are classic changes.
Plaques and tangles also may be seen in normal brains but are far less numerous.
In normal subjects, tangles outside the hippocampus are rare.
