Biomarkers to detect Psoriatic arthritis
Are there any biomarkers that may predict likelihood of developing PsA in patients with psoriasis?
Recent studies have shown that patients with PsA, but not isolated psoriasis, have elevated levels of CD5-like protein, integrin beta 5, Mac-2 binding protein, myeloperoxidase, matrix metalloproteinase 3, and CRP. These markers may have a future role in stratifying risk for PsA among patients with psoriasis, and prompt targeted, early evaluation by a rheumatologist.
