Myasthenia gravis (MG), in which most antibodies are directed against the AChR on the postsynaptic muscle membrane, and Lambert–Eaton myasthenic syndrome (LEMS), in which antibodies are directed against the voltage-gated calcium channel in the nerve terminal, primarily affect the NMJ.
