Ibuprofen Oxycodone

Ibuprofen Oxycodone Brand Name– Combunox

What is Ibuprofen Oxycodone

Oxycodone and ibuprofen are used together for the relief of acute pain. Ibuprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agent (NSAID) with analgesic and antipyretic effects.

Oxycodone is an oral semisynthetic opiate agonist derived from the opioid alkaloid, thebaine. In single dose studies, the combination of ibuprofen and oxycodone produced greater analgesia efficacy than placebo and each of the individual components as measured by the magnitude of pain relief and the reduction in pain intensity over 6 hours.

All NSAIDs carry an increased risk of serious gastrointestinal adverse effects including bleeding, ulceration, and perforation of the stomach or intestines and may cause an increased risk of serious cardiovascular (CV) thrombotic events, myocardial infarction, and stroke; prescribe at the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible duration.

On November 26, 2004 the FDA approved an ibuprofen; oxycodone combination product, Combunox (previously known as Oxyprofen), for the short-term treatment of moderate to severe pain.
