Ezogabine Brand Name– Potiga
What is Ezogabine
Ezogabine is an oral anticonvulsant agent which is a potassium channel opener; additional pharmacologic actions are potentially mediated through augmentation of GABA.
Efficacy was established in clinical trials which enrolled patients with partial onset seizures with or without secondary generalization and who were not controlled with 1 to 3 antiepileptic drugs (AEDs).
Retinal abnormalities with potential for an accompanying decrease in visual acuity have been reported in patients in long-term clinical trials of ezogabine.
Therefore, the use of ezogabine should be reserved for patients who have had an inadequate response to several alternative treatments and for whom the benefits outweigh the potential risk of vision loss.
Ezogabine was FDA-approved in June 2011.

- partial seizures
