Eletriptan

Eletriptan Brand Name– Relpax

What is Eletriptan

Eletriptan is an oral serotonin (5HT1B/1D) receptor agonist (triptan) indicated for the acute treatment of migraine with or without aura in adults.

Eletriptan is for use only after a clear diagnosis of migraine has been established. It is not indicated for migraine prophylaxis. The safety and effectiveness of eletriptan have not been established for cluster headache. The safety of treating an average of more than 3 migraine attacks in a 30-day period has not been established.

Results from comparative studies between oral eletriptan and sumatriptan indicate that eletriptan 40 mg was superior to sumatriptan 50 or 100 mg in headache response rate at 1 or 2 hours, pain-free response rate, and functional improvement; patient acceptability of eletriptan 40 or 80 mg was superior to the 50 mg dose of sumatriptan.
