What is Ceftaroline fosamil
Ceftaroline fosamil is an intravenous cephalosporin approved for the treatment of acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections and community-acquired bacterial pneumonia.
It is a semi-synthetic, broad-spectrum antibiotic.
Ceftaroline is the first cephalosporin to be active against resistant gram-positive pathogens including methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA), vancomycin-resistant S. aureus (VRSA), vancomycin-insensitive S. aureus (VISA), and hetero-resistant vancomycin-insensitive S. aureus (hVISA).
