Why is it important to accurately identify hemarthrosis?
A major concern with hemarthrosis is long-term joint damage owing to inflammation resulting from recurrent bleeding. This is of particular concern with syndromes such as hemophilia. In addition, fracture can cause hemarthrosis. As such, accurately identifying hemarthrosis and instituting appropriate treatment can reduce long-term joint-related disability.
