What other organ involvement can be seen in Behcets disease?
• Gastrointestinal involvement is more common in Japan (25%–30%) and is characterized by mucosal ulcerations most commonly in the ileum and the right side of the colon. Ileocecal lesions may perforate. Stool calprotectin is elevated.
• Apart from sporadic reports of valvular lesions, myocarditis, pericarditis, and coronary arteritis/aneurysms, cardiac involvement in Behçet’s disease is uncommon. Notably atherosclerosis is not accelerated.
• Epididymitis occurs in 10% of men; salpingitis can occur in women.
• Renal manifestations including glomerulonephritis are uncommon (<10%).
• Amyloidosis can cause nephrotic syndrome.
