Is CTA or MRA preferred for assessment of venous thrombosis?
MRA is more robust in the sense that one can use contrast-enhanced MRA techniques as well as noncontrast techniques to improve the sensitivity for detection of venous thrombosis. If the vein of interest displays a flow void on a spin echo MRI sequence, then the presence of acute thrombus is unlikely.
