What is ICU acquired weakness?
It is weakness acquired in the ICU, which is due to several underlying pathophysiologic processes that may be present concomitantly.
The two most common pathologic entities associated with ICU-acquired weakness are critical illness polyneuropathy (CIP) and critical illness myopathy (CIM).
