How is Menieres disease distinguished from IMIED?
Time course. Hearing loss typically occurs over several years in Ménière’s disease rather than weeks or months in IMIED. These two disease entities may be impossible to differentiate early in the disease course. Some data suggests that a subset of Ménière’s may be autoimmune in nature and possibly part of a spectrum of disease including IMIED.
