How does hyperkalemia present?
Hyperkalemia may be asymptomatic or present with mild symptoms like muscular weakness.
Severe hyperkalemia can produce life-threatening conditions like respiratory failure due to paralysis of the diaphragm, or ventricular fibrillation.
The serum potassium concentration may not correlate with the progression of EKG changes.
