What is the gustatory nucleus?
Gustatory nucleus is the nucleus in the medulla that receives afferent sensory information for the sensation of taste.
Taste from the anterior two-thirds of the tongue is innervated by the chorda tympani (cranial nerve VII), the posterior one-third of the tongue is innervated by cranial nerve IX, and the epiglottis is innervated by cranial nerve X.
