Can neuropsychologic testing differentiate vascular dementia from Alzheimers Disease?
Not absolutely. Patchy performances across tests, unilateral motor impairments (e.g., reaction times or finger tapping), and improvements in some but not all areas of cognition over time are typically seen in vascular dementias.
Asymmetric finger tapping, however, is also common in Alzheimers Disease.
