What is autosomal dominant tubulointerstitial kidney disease (ADTKD)?
ADTKD is a new terminology for a collection of rare inherited kidney diseases characterized by autosomal dominant inheritance, bland urinalysis, tubulointerstitial fibrosis, and slowly progressive kidney dysfunction.
These disorders often present in young adulthood, between the ages of 20 and 50 years.
The diagnosis of ADTKD must be considered in any adult with chronic kidney disease unrelated to hypertension and diabetes, a bland urinalysis, and a positive family history of ESKD.
