What is Iothalamate Meglumine
Iothalamate meglumine is an iodinated, ionic radiographic contrast agent indicated for excretory urography, cerebral angiography, peripheral arteriography, venography, arthrography, direct cholangiography, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), contrast enhancement of computed tomographic (CT) brain images, cranial computerized angiotomography, intravenous digital subtraction angiography (DSA), and arterial DSA.
Avoid inadvertent intrathecal administration as this can result in serious adverse events, including death.
Serious and potentially fatal adverse events (i.e., cardiovascular toxicities, hypersensitivity reactions, severe cutaneous adverse reactions, acute renal failure) may also occur during intravascular use.
To minimize the toxicity risk, ensure the patients are adequately hydrated and use the smallest necessary volume and concentration of iothalamate meglumine.
