What is Epinastine
Epinastine is a topical ophthalmic H1-antagonist and an inhibitor of mast cell histamine release.
Epinastine is indicated for the prevention of ocular pruritus associated with allergic conjunctivitis.
The ophthalmic product formulation is long-acting, allowing for twice daily administration; the eye solution has a pH of approximately 7 and an osmolality of approximately 250—310 mOsm/kg.
The FDA approved epinastine 0.05% ophthalmic solution (Elestat) on October 17, 2003.
