What is Efinaconazole
Efinaconazole is a topical azole antifungal solution indicated for the treatment of onychomycosis of the toenails caused by Trichophyton rubrum and Trichophyton mentagrophytes in adults and pediatric patients 6 years and older.
Approval was based on the results of 2 randomized, double-blind, vehicle-controlled clinical trials involving adults with onychomycosis of the toenail. In these trials, complete cure (defined as 0% clinical involvement of the target toenail plus negative KOH and negative culture) at 4 weeks post-treatment was achieved in 17.8% and 15.2% of efinaconazole recipients compared to 3.3% and 5.5% of patients receiving the vehicle solution
