Why are SED tarda and SED tarda with progressive arthropathy confused with juvenile idiopathic arthritis?
Both of these X-linked recessive disorders are accompanied by enlargement of the ends of the tubular bones in the hands, which may be mistaken for JIA on visual inspection. Radiographic evaluation inevitably leads to the correct diagnosis.
