Who is typically affected by PDB?
PDB prevalence increases with age. It typically affects older adults and is uncommon before the age of 40 years. Incidence of PDB also varies based on geography and sex. Men appear to be more commonly affected than women. PDB most commonly affects those of European descent and less commonly those of African and Asian descent. In the United States, PDB is estimated to affect 2% to 3% of the adult population over the age of 55 years.
