Which tumor is associated with LEMS?
About 50% to 66% of patients with LEMS have cancer, usually small-cell carcinoma of the lung, at the time of presentation or will ultimately be diagnosed with it, usually within 2 years.
Although immunologic evidence suggests that this tumor may play an important role in the pathogenesis of LEMS, a substantial minority of patients with LEMS never develop malignancy.
