What kinds of enhancement kinetics are seen in breast MRI?
At least three postcontrast sequences are generally acquired to determine whether the initial enhancement gradually increases (persistent enhancement), stays the same (plateau enhancement), or decreases (washout enhancement). This information can help to characterize a lesion as benign or malignant. A washout curve is generally regarded as the most suspicious, but some benign masses, such as lymph nodes, also demonstrate this kinetic enhancement pattern.
