What are the variable vessel vasculitides?
The International Chapel Hill Consensus Conference recognized two vasculitides that can affect any size and type (arteries, veins, and capillaries) of blood vessel: Behçet’s disease and Cogan’s syndrome.
Note that many but not all of the clinical manifestations of Behçet’s diseases are due to a vasculitis.
Additionally, Cogan’s syndrome is associated with vasculitis; however, the pathology of cochlear specimens frequently does not show vasculitis suggesting additional pathogenetic mechanisms (e.g., autoimmune).
