Should patients with uncontrolled hypertension caused by atherosclerotic renal artery stenosis undergo revascularization?
No. Data from randomized trials have not clearly and consistently demonstrated a significant benefit to revascularization compared with medical management alone in regard to renovascular hypertension.
The risks and benefits of each option should be discussed with each individual patient, in consultation with a vascular surgeon or interventional radiologist.
