What is the role of immunosuppressants in Multiple Sclerosis?
Many immune-altering regimens have been used in Multiple Sclerosis, but prospective, randomized, blinded, controlled, multicentered trials have been few and disappointing.
Nevertheless, treatments such as plasmapheresis, cyclophosphamide, azathioprine, methotrexate, mitoxantrone, rituximab, and intravenous immunoglobulin still are occasionally used, more for their theoretical benefits than for any proof of efficacy.
