What are the layers of the cerebral cortex? 

Layers of the cerebral cortex:

I. Molecular layerIV. Inner granular layer
II. Outer granular layerV. Inner pyramidal or ganglion layer
III. Outer pyramidal layerVI. Multiform layer

Afferent fibers activated by various sensory stimuli terminate in layers IV, III, and II. These signals are then transmitted to adjacent superficial and deep layers through multiple interconnections. All the efferent fibers originate in layer V
