What are the layers of the cerebral cortex?
Layers of the cerebral cortex:
I. Molecular layer | IV. Inner granular layer |
II. Outer granular layer | V. Inner pyramidal or ganglion layer |
III. Outer pyramidal layer | VI. Multiform layer |
Afferent fibers activated by various sensory stimuli terminate in layers IV, III, and II. These signals are then transmitted to adjacent superficial and deep layers through multiple interconnections. All the efferent fibers originate in layer V
