What is a hypopyon?
The presence of inflammatory cells in the anterior chamber of the eye. It occurs in up to 20% of patients with Behçet’s disease and is a poor prognostic sign because it is frequently associated with retinal involvement.
Although initially believed to be pathognomonic of ocular Behçet’s disease, hypopyon is more commonly seen with severe B27-associated uveitis (Autoimmune Eye and Ear Disorders).
