Contiguous gene syndromes
What is the concept of contiguous gene syndromes.
Contiguous gene syndromes are caused by a deletion or duplication spanning multiple genes lying in close proximity to one another along a chromosome.
The chromosome abnormality can involve as few as two genes and as many as dozens of genes.
Contiguous gene syndromes may be associated with multiple clinical features caused by deletion or duplication of the multiple adjacent genes.
