Cerebral perfusion pressure (CPP)

What is the Cerebral perfusion pressure (CPP)?

CPP is the driving arterial pressure gradient across the cerebral vasculature and is defined as the difference between the mean arterial pressure (MAP) and Intra cranial pressure (ICP).

[CPP=MAP−ICP][CPP=MAP−ICP]

The CPP goal is patient specific, and hence it is debatable.

Based on studies, the recommended goal is 50 to 70 mm Hg, and values <50 mm Hg are associated with ischemia and poor outcome.
