What are the causes of venous contamination?
Venous contamination is contrast opacification of the crural veins during arterial opacification. The causes are:
- • Delayed image acquisition through the calf. This is more likely to be encountered during MRA than CTA.
- • Inflammation such as by cellulitis or osteomyelitis.
- • Arteriovenous shunting.
