What is Fluorometholone
Fluorometholone is a synthetic fluorinated corticosteroid that is structurally related to progesterone.
It is indicated for treating corticosteroid-responsive allergic and inflammatory conditions of the palpebral and bulbar conjunctiva, cornea, and anterior segment of the globe.
Fluorometholone is one of three ophthalmic corticosteroids preferred for long-term treatment because it is less likely to increase intraocular pressure.
Fluorometholone was approved by the FDA in July 1982.
